Thread: Problem installing Ubuntu with Raid 0, Grub: No such device

i have raid 0 setup 2 x 1tb drives. have asus p8p67 le motherboard , using interl rst raid setup. i'm utterly ignorant of raid , therefore forgive mistakes...

had windows 7 installed , attempting dual boot ubuntu.

installed ubuntu cd. raid picked 1 drive ubuntu. picked windows mbr , main windows partition. resized main partition , used "install ubuntu , windows 7 side side" option. installation went fine once restarted pc welcomed grub rescue screen message: "error: no such device e196.....".

, adivce appreciated.

edit: used windows 7 disc repair windows bootloader can boot windows 7.

before doing used gparted on live cd check partitions on drives. ones present mbr , windows one. ubuntu seemingly didn't install... although grub did... advised on ubuntu irc chat avoid trying reinstall ubuntu @ point in case there error in partitioning process.

i've since checked state of partitions within windows , there's mbr partiton, windows partiton , partition created ubuntu... 965mb of partition created listed used space well...

have no idea what's happened.

you did wubi install within windows, doesn't create partition, tries install file within windows partition. need boot cd , normal install instead of trying run installer within windows.
