Thread: Running hard drives from an old desktop power supply


hey, i've got old 250 watt power supply salvaged old computer in garbage heap. can use power hard drives , optical drives externally (i've got 1 of cables lets run them outside computer via usb)? also, if rusty or damaged there risk things plug it? thanks.

do big favor , go out , buy 1 of power supply testers plug testing. otherwise multimeter , test them. power supplies not kick unless under load.

short answer, dont trust it. ended in garbage can something. test first.

otherwise should run them.
