Thread: Ubuntu Sucking (Slow boot times, Graphics Problems, and Mouse/Keyboard Problems)

note: i've installed updates, shouldn't reason.
fifth day linux (ubuntu 11.04), , although impressed first day, i'm thinking of permanently reverting windows.
here reasons:
told linux had quick boot times, not case. timed how long takes turning on computer logging in desktop.
ubuntu 11.04 takes me around 40-45 seconds or turn on computer , log in.
windows 7, takes me around 25-30 seconds.
besides slow boot times, applications running sluggishly slow.
tried installing docky, , lags horribly.
moreover, installed super tux kart, , although runs perfectly, seems using cpu. think gets point computer heats , linux automatically shuts down computer. seems applications aren't being run efficiently.
hardware isn't shabby considering other linux users have.
processor core 2 duo 2.0 ghz , have 4 gigs of ddr2 ram, along 512 mb dedicated nvidia gpu.

i'm encountering many graphics problems when lock screen, suspend/hibernate, switch user, or when trying shut down computer:
check attached picture.

finally, i'm encountering irritating problem concerning mouse , keyboard. freeze , stop working , way solve either reboot takes while or suspend runs me graphics problem.
please see thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1788822

in summary, i'm not @ impressed linux, , i'm not able see why there's such huge community if it's bad everyone. if it's not bad, please me solve issues?
thank you.

hi, apologies problems you're encountering. far can see, problems might attached buggy video driver. using proprietary video drivers or vesa drivers? since you've got nvidia card, you've got upper hand. vesa, sometimes, sparks. keyboard , mouse thing. suggest first things first. that's, video. if video's down, lot's of things haywire. on windows.

slow boot times rather strange coz ubuntu faster own custom build of linux. , speaking of which, community exists because of maintain our own systems , create our own fixes, myself. i'd suggest watch because, people less if think insisting on dropping ubuntu going anything. it's not religion man it's not gonna hurt anyone. it's matter of choice.

anyway, i'm not 1 debate. vesa or proprietary drivers?
