Thread: Disable ATI card in dual-GPU laptop?

hey all, i've been searching around forums way disable ati mobility 5650 on hp envy 14 little success. have little use outside of gaming in windows , heats laptop considerably , burning lot of battery power. i'm not using proprietary ati driver , looking turn ati card off , use integrated intel chip when using ubuntu 11.04 64-bit (have dual boot setup win7-64). i'm new ubuntu/linux , love everyday computing far seems if ati card going eat battery when not in use, it's not viable mobile setup me right now. tips or help?

solved own problem. managed install catalyst 11.6 ati website using:

using hsoulen's terminal code. have access switchable ati graphics, requires restart change seems running 1 gpu when intel chip selected no more overheating!

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
