Thread: Faster Download Speeds?

so not of tech support question, general question.

switch between ubuntu , windows alot, because games can run smoothly in windows environment. anyways, 1 thing have been noticing ever since got ubuntu never questioned, download speeds.

when downloading torrent in windows, topped out out 2.0 mb/s. in ubuntu install, running same torrent program (utorrent) , downloading same file, getting 3.0 mb/s. wondering, ubuntu utilizing internet connection better? hand ful of times have ever reached 3.0 in windows install (such right while downloading game through steam).

it's called qos (quality of service) in windows, saves bandwidth if need open second program needs internet. uses qos quota meanwhile system balance internet load , saves again qos quota future programs.
default configured in 20% (iirc) , can't go lower 5% (again, iirc).
in linux in general, it's made @ kernel/connection level, not needed.

ps: not mention "ninja connections" in windows.
