Thread: HDMI TV output does not fit the screen

hi everyone,
have okano 42" lcd tv, connect laptop via hdmi cable. unfortunately, doesn't fit screen @ tv's resolution of 1920x1080, , there 40 pixels run on edge of each side on tv, making ubuntu toolbars invisible.

standard nvidia control panel doesn't have options correcting (in windows had settings adjusting stretch/position of screen), wondering whether there common tools ubuntu users can use adjust relative position , stretch of screen?

btw think cause of dodgy tv isn't correctly reporting resolution laptop, , unlike branded tvs, don't have system settings can adjusted correct (i know panasonic counterpart can fix in system menu)..

i still haven't resolved this, great feedback. i'll keep looking , post if find in meantime..
