Thread: No keyboard at grub first boot, keyboard after restart

hi all,

computer: toshiba satellite pro l510 laptop, 10.10.

has happened have gotten around time-out , putting menu.list in order.

when first boot machine (switch on day computer being off) grub options select kernel , have no keyboard. no up/down arrows have go kernel on top of list (not desirable).

when log-in screen if hit restart , go grub screen have keyboard , can select kernel. if login kernel have full keyboard, no problem. if restart, have keyboard @ grub list.

nutshell: when starting computer fresh keyboard dead @ grub menu (and only). time after that, once computer has been switched on, if restart have keyboard @ grub menu , can select different kernels. (of course, if switch computer off , on again, no keyboard ...)

thoughts?

have tried checking bios settings see if there keyboard options either enable or disable? how trying different usb port, if it's usb.
