Thread: Ubuntu 10.04 crashes. (Programs,applications stop automatically)

i have following config:

amd phenom 2 processor
asus motherboard
500 gb hard disk (seagate)
2 * 2gb ram ddr2

when first installed ubuntu 10.04 (32 bit) everythng worked fine, messed d screen resolution , couldn't make right. decided re-install (another reason had windows xp - , wanted single os on pc)

when installed time, pc kept on crashing. no application runs more 5-10 mins. after few minutes program stops automatically , after not able access program/application.
have restart everytime in order finish work. download ubuntu software centre results in error/failed download.

not able rid of problem re-installing. ( have tried multiple cds , different os including ubuntu 11.04, kubuntu, windows xp--all these installations fail @ preliminary levels ending in gibberish error on black screen)

new ubuntu , suggestion problem b welcome
right using ubuntu 10.04 live cd

what describe sounds hardware failure.

can run live cd? if so, memtest see if ram corrupted.

also, why installing 32 bit distro on 64 bit processor? takes away advantage of having 64 bit (someone may disagree, minority )

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
