Thread: ubuntu 10.10 Dell e4310 built-in webcam not detected

hi,
i'm trying built in webcam working on dell e4310. running ubuntu 10.10, , can't figure out do. tried installing cheese, , says no webcam detected. when run lsusb, get:
bus 002 device 004: id 03f0:4507 hewlett-packard
bus 002 device 003: id 0a5c:5800 broadcom corp. bcm5880 secure applications processor
bus 002 device 002: id 8087:0020 intel corp. integrated rate matching hub

don't think of webcams. tried running lshw: http://pastebin.com/3wmk7qkb, couldn't find webcam there. i'm pretty sure have built-in webcam since can physically see it, although never tested windows before installed ubuntu.

should do?

edit: got off phone dell, apparently shipped without webcam.

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
