Automaticaly building pages from XML input?
hello, folks
first: not sure if right forum ask question, if bear me, please.
we want make ipad application tight deadline. need process real fast 70-90 pieces of news in indesign less human intervention possible (desired aim:none).
each piece of news have 1-3 pages of content 1 or 2 pictures. have build set of templates master pages of them (about 6-7 simple variants).
we define workflow satisfy our needs , believe describe next serve them. you, please, telling me if feasible, , if approach and, if so, need accomplish it:
- we can place our content formatted xml folder or set of folders.
- this folders act hot folders, detected indesign (indesign server? enfocus switch?)
- the software (id server?) detects presence of new content , places xml indesing template assigned folder.
- as have used xml-tagged frames in templates (using incopy or content collector), template include vertical , horizontal versions (alternative layouts). so, indesign doing automatically human hand: pick template, insert xml, save id document.
- the software (enfocus switch? indesign server?) place each appropriated final indesign document in oputput folder.
- if manage achieve assignation of article , upload , inclusion adobe dps folio in our account sweeeeeeet... maybe asking much.
- the human intervention limited sieve unwanted pieces of news , tweak minor things here , there.
so question is: how sound? whacky? feasible? way expensive/complex? better/simpler idea?
thank you
