New laptop with dual monitors setup

i'm looking buy new laptop , need advice feature. apart general date performance requirements, 2 special requirements are

1. needs have 17"+ 1920x1080 internal screen.

2. can connected 2 external digital displays

(3. must pc mac thunderbolt out window)

as far understand, leaves me following options:

option 1: find laptop 2 hdmi/minidisplayports connections

option 2: find laptop has docking station available, can connect 2 displays

option 3: have seen these "signal split boxes" on sale @ $100 supposedly turns 1 hdmi out two. never seen/heard of using these, option decent alternative?

the external displays 2 28" @ 1920x1200. allthough might upgrade 2 30" 2560x1440/1600 during lifespan of laptop, nice if gfx card handle that. note don't need internal display work while connected 2 external monitors. needless say, example 1 analogue vga out , 1 hdmi wont trick, need displays identical - digital signals.

if have date experience setup this, or advice regarding specific system go (basic requirements i7/ssd upgrade option/ram upgradable @ least 16gb) appreciate it! don't plan break bank this, want spend little possibe. hoping to stay under $2k (for laptop , optionally docking station - excluding external displays). i'm open both pcs on sale right , just-out-of-production ebay-pcs long job.

thanks

people laptops compromise, providing ability work on high-end graphics software , portable , provide battery life , reliable.  they're disappointed jack of trades system master of none.  that's state of art right now.

i'm not sure laptop going able drive 2 30" monitors.  i'm not all-knowing.

i don't know situation - perhaps it's essential laptop - if anticipate heavy photoshop usage consider getting solid desktop system, , maybe tablet or inexpensive laptop travel with.

i've been eyeing workstations on ebay, , given newest brand new designs incorporating things sandy bridge processors *just* out, off-cutting-edge workstations haven't dropped in price yet.  i'm hoping soon.

things consider photoshop operation:

  • more ram better.  lots more lots better.
  • ssd has arrived mainstream storage medium, they're still bit on expensive side.  don't skimp on ssd size save money - you'll waste lot of time later struggling disk full issues.
  • get ati or nvidia graphics interface if @ possible - stay away intel.
