Thread: Dell Very Annoying Driver Problem (Inspiron 1545, Broadcom 4312)

have had ubuntu 10.04 64-bit on laptop months , it's great. it's dell inspiron 1545. has broadcom 4312 wireless card. can wireless working, not without driving myself mad every time turn laptop on. (for reason, think different sticky above.)

anyway, when boot doesn't detect wireless network card. so, might expect go system --> administration --> hardware drivers. when open that, says "broadcom sta wireless driver" activated. i've found is, when remove , activate again, wireless starts working.

driving me insane. i'd rather not have go through annoying procedure when start ubuntu. makes both windows vista , windows xp have on here more attractive. have solutions? also, in case affects conflicts or whatever...if go system --> administration --> windows wireless drivers, says has driver broadcom card. removed driver however, , happens same before don't believe it's issue.

appreciated!

please try experiment. turn off computer completely. start , run in terminal:
code:
lsmod > adrobefore.txt
activate maddening wireless , run:
code:
lsmod > adroafter.txt
post 2 text files reply using paperclip tool @ top of reply box. suspicion driver module not loading automatically , we'll see what's missing before after. we'll load module automatically on boot , life good!
