Thread: How do I search for drivers and then share an internet connection?

hi all,

have 3 machines(2x dell optiplex gx620, 1x dell optiplex 330) , salvaged d-link ethernet card pc, , want put in optiplex 330. wondering if there needed before take server offline , install , how find drivers it? or ubuntu go ahead , that?

, second question is, once network card installed, how share internet connection of machine server? , how ssh in server connected other? i'm guessing have set ports that, don't know how new ubuntu server scene , im doing educational purposes.

hrm.. you'd need router between 2 server's share internet connection. can use crossover cable, , directly connect 2 machines... that's not preferred method.

drivers, isn't windows . should "just work". i'd 99.9999% of wired ethernet controller cards functional out of box on ubuntu. wireless cards different story. not sure exact number, there quite few cards (mostly broadcom chipsets) need special drivers (sometimes proprietary) in order function correctly or @ all. quick boot of livecd confirm you.
