Thread: how to get XP in Virtualbox to acknowledge CD drive

hi,
can't windows xp running guest os under virtualbox read cd player. have ubuntu 10.10 32 bit.

when first go virtualbox , run xp, can eject cd tray in xp, know xp aware cd player there, when place music disk in cd tray , close it, xp responds disk un-readable. when go ubuntu, see ubuntu has mounted cd, guess process of cd tray being opened , closed disk ubuntu took control of it, don't know.
maybe cd need unmounted in ubuntu before xp in vb can see it? don't know how un-mount cd though.

from top menu of vm choose devices , click on cd, should unmount linux in sintances , have drive in vm ?

needs ticked in vm settings though having access host drive.
