Thread: Ubuntu 11.04 freezes constantly, possibly a heating issue?
i have acer travelmate 630(14.1" model) running ubuntu 11.04 , have experienced frequent amount of freezing. when log in, login sound effect doesn't play, cursor turns wheel changes normal cursor, changes wheel, frozen. @ point computer has frozen, nothing moving, no input of kind responisive, , have hard reboot. several times after problem goes away , able log in , use normally.
experienced freezing when loading ubuntu software centre , using firefox.
after leaving while, problem gone, after hour or 2 freezes again.
on machine stock, apart upgraded 1gb ram , 60gb hdd. , use external monitor because internal 1 has damaged cable(replacement coming soon).
there anyways can track down problem? have uninstalled compiz , running ubuntu classic mode.
happy downgrade 9.04 compatible usb wifi adaptor without doing complex stuff, solve problem on 11.04.
thank in advance , provide further information when required.
strange thing is, after cool down loads fine , works 20 minutes locks up. boot again straight after hard reboot, locks @ login, tried again , logs in fine works 20 minutes locks up.
thought cooling because logs in fine after cool down why able log in after few tries?
please me.
