Thread: unable to mount location failed to retrieve list from server

hi,i keep getting this, ever time try map shared drive on other systems small network. 'unable mount location failed retrieve list server'. used work.
main system unbuntu 10.10, gnome ver. 2.32
sys2 windows xp pro, sp3
sys3 windows xp home sp3
sys4 windows xp home sp3
sys5 windows 7

mine used server above, , me work on.
reason, keep getting permission failure.
setting share on sys2. sys3, sys4, sys5 can see , read it. main sys cannot.
none of systems can see main 1 & main 1 cannot read of others.

i have been reading on thread, that's of input has come from. threads , trying solve problem myself. getting nowhere.
i'm beging think not 1 problem, 2 or three. router setup??? system???
routers linksyswag-160n, direct bb.
, bt home hub 2 linked linksys via rj45.
both running wifi, bt 1 sons ds, other sys4 & 5. others wired.
want upgrade ubuntu 11, need sort out these problems first.
not knowing enough ubuntu driving me mad.
so, calling help.

hi,i keep getting this, ever time try map shared drive on other systems small network. 'unable mount location failed retrieve list server'. used work.
main system unbuntu 10.10, gnome ver. 2.32
sys2 windows xp pro, sp3
sys3 windows xp home sp3
sys4 windows xp home sp3
sys5 windows 7

mine used server above, , me work on.
reason, keep getting permission failure.
setting share on sys2. sys3, sys4, sys5 can see , read it. main sys cannot.
none of systems can see main 1 & main 1 cannot read of others.

tried this.

when use quote button instead of the code button the above get. i'm not going take time re-enter work.

tell you have installed samba v4 on samba v3. not want do. samba v4 alpha experimental @ stage. intended replace windows server ad domains.

lot of errors mistyping need work on that. can either edit post or repost again using code blocks (# button).

rest assured either going purge samba4 ubuntu or reinstall whole os can install samba3.
