adobe air with flex, file new, open and save for Desktop software program

i have headache searching. cannot believe such confusing topic every software program create must able save user input, right.

 

here problem:

novel writing software program main window has tabnavigator 4 navigatorcontent pages 1. characters, 2. worlds, 3. objects, 4. editor

 

each navigatorcontent page has user input fields in form of textinput component, textarea component, richtexteditor component, etc.

 

problem 1:

the user needs able open new project , give name , state must saved. user input in novel writing software program must attached file name user specified - cannot give sample code cause don't know start looking anymore.

 

problem 2:

if user has defined new project name, input different input components has compiled single file can saved. (dan pichelman gave me satisfactory answer on using file.borwseforsave funtion.) makes sense, first need user input single file. convinced must xml file , there guide on how but...

 

problem 3:

this brings me problem. pages i've researched so  far tell me how load data xml file component, not how write text component xml file. , xml file cannot prefs file in storage directory, has named user , after filling in text in different tabs of software, must saved in xml file , saved user chooses.

 

problem 4:

now user put in text , written xml file has named , set path to, goes on vacation , in 2 weeks opens saved file work on project again. data stored in xml must written different user input components can continue working on project, truth told, there samles , tutorials on subject, again single page perspective not multiple tab perspective.

 

problem 5:

now user has deleted and/or changed text put in when started, wrote more text in textareas , texteditor , clicks file - save button. xml file or whatever needs used must updated , saved changes overwriting old file.

 

problem 6:

the data entered user end being book of 400 pages. data in richtexteditor component, whatever method of saving used, database or xml or whatever, needs able contain data.

 

thought, if working instance, microsoft powerpoint, has multiple pages containing different user inputs , when click flie - save, saves input 1 file. when user opens saved file loads content place , can change , manipulate input , save again. have thought 1 of first things adobe or other software teach sofware programs about. alas, tutorials on subject adobe air desktop application extreeeeemely rare.

 

my promise is, if can me or there tutorial out there covers i  write tutorial on other newbies progress step step.
