PPCS4 Capture issue- no device control

my company upgraded me dell precision t3500 win 7 few weeks ago. have ppcs4, shoot on sony pd170, capture on internal drive - 1tb (plenty of space).

my issue ppcs4 won't recognize camera... here's weird part... does, or did. 2 days ago, pp wouldn't recognize camera, message on top of capture window: "no device control" , "stopped" , can sometime push recorde button , acts it's recording nothing in window, , it's (pp) not controlling camera. (holy cow... strange happening i'm typing, first let me finish original thought)  ... checked setting on capture... put on dv capture instead of hdv , captured fine (the 2 days ago talking about)

but yesterday, same thing, doesn't matter change capture (dv or hdv) still won't capture via ppcs4. checked forum , tried legacy suggestion, checked cameras ilink , didn't find way "turn off" camera says way camera able controlled other devices... of never had issues on old computer, never, making sure camera not powered on until pp up... , other suggestions nothing has worked today , yesterday.

let me "something strange" mentioned in first paragraph... little window pops when first power camera when it's hooked computer keeps popping up. close it, pops again, didn't happen yesterday i'll check 1394 cable after post.

i have used same set far long, i've changed nothing comptuer, issue dell, or win 7?

quick note: on same forum question on yesterday, 1 guys suggestion very simple , effective... capture native capture computer comes with. once read that, thought, holy cow, used way @ home , works every time without issues! import video pp.
