SERP penalization for one business having two websites? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hello all,

i have 1 joomla site business , offer variety of products.

for marketing purposes looking pros/cons , methods of either dedicating entirely different website promote 1 specific product offer, or develop website consisting of sub-domain of main domain. either way, idea cater specific target "audience" or potential customer removing 1 product/content main domain , use on different website.

question 1 - search engines (with serp in mind) not favorably on business having more 1 website (and penalize rankings of main site/domain because 1 business using 2 domains)?

question 2 - if acceptable practice, better use sub-domain of main domain, or independent domain? why?

question 1) google doesn't judge on peoples success of operating more 1 business, common businesses operating on more than, , in todays climate wise business plan so, unless own giant corporation doubt since on here posting questions

question 2) never use sub domain want independent possible.

notes) in order successful site content needs unique, said google doesn't care how many businesses operate online if had same products online site site b.

what search engines don't sites popping out offer same content , experience, search engines taking serious use different business name, different content (pictures, , text) , using different theme each site hell of lot better.
