Thread: ifconfig through SSH

hi all,

on server machine, if go upstairs keyboard , type ifconfig, well, however, 9/10 of time use ssh obvious reasons. if through ssh type ifconfig come up:
code:
command 'ifconfig' available in '/sbin/ifconfig' command not located because '/sbin' not included in path environment variable. caused lack of administrative privileges associated user account. ifconfig: command not found
if type /sbin/ifconfig well. causes , how fix it?

i'll try explain this, if i'm wrong, please correct me...

bash command 'ifconfig' searched when type in terminal. seems path isn't set should since can't find command.

@ users profile in /etc/profile , see path being set to.

should this:
code:
path=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin export path
folders separated colon: , search in same order appears in path.
