Thread: Question about a concept and whether any virtualization does that - Xen??

have question concept occurred me. i'm inclined think type of virtualization - it's way works already, i'd more knowledge/ exper tell me if i'm on right track. i'm trying learn virtualizaion - xen , reading books , watching vids not sure one.

best way know how explain question use logic describe, , try integrate explanation go. i'm going try , keep simple think have add differences in order show i"m wondering about.

lets have operating systems a, b, , c. each of these operating systems has components a, b, , c make them identical between a, b, , c (all o/ses). in addition, b identical between , c not b :and: c identical between , b not c. let's ab , cb=b1 bb=b2 :and: ac , bc=c1 cc=c2.

rather store a=abc, b=abc, , c=abc on server's drive why not store least required components , combine them in correct order o/s that's being requested when requested?? following example above components a, b1, b2, c1 , c2 being stored on server's drive (much less way).

now, when requests o/s vmm combines components a, b1, c1. when requests o/s b combined , served a, b2, c1. , when requesting o/s c combined , served a, b1, c2.

make sense? hope haven't made typo or otherwise error in logic statement above. trying figure out how things combined, duplication eliminated, , resources economized. sorry don't have simpler way describe without taking 5 million words , becoming convoluted it's worthless in end anyway. @ least method succinct , precise.

so, real question - vmm work way? more specifically, xen work way, or can it? i've seen word "granulation" used in of materials talking virtualization. talking when use word?


guidance appreciated. i'm finding difficult of concepts talk straight in head.

ok. maybe chose bad way/ overly complicated way ask question. can't see more succinct , clear way state question though. unfortunately, since it's question existence of particular technology or not, don't know correct term/ terms use. can possibly take stab @ describing what's on mind. if knows i'd sure appreciate little help.
