Thread: Slightly mental NAS project


i haze been toying idea of new nas, can hold around 10 drives. there isn't out there home market fits bill, i'm considering making one. since want low power , simple, thinking using beagleboard large sd.

sata isn't option these kind of boards, pondering option of usb... raid. raid should work, although i'm sot sure how such system handle 5 mirrors. run away software raid, home machine , bit of mental project, why not.

suppose 2 questions i'm asking are:

has had experience these sorts of boards?
what's mdadm when using raid1 or 10? if system catches fire, data recoverable?

anticipate sort of fire.
