Thread: Splitting a physical monitor into multiple virtual monitors

hi everybody,

today installed ubuntu 11.04 on father's pc. working properly, except things can fix. however, father uses matrox dualhead2go digital enable use of 3 monitors on 2-port graphics card.

basically, device takes pc input , acts single monitor combined resolution of monitors connected device. way system recognizes 2 monitors 1 screen stretching screen across 2 monitors.

now, i've been searching night , find enabling dual-monitor stuff. question:

can split screen across 2 monitors on software level?

i've tried modifying xorg.conf without luck. i've restored xorg.conf auto-generated version nvidia-driver.

if knows way this, appreciate help.
