Thread: Won't boot after upgrade


i performed apt-get update, apt-get upgrade , can't boot up. goes far automatic login window, that's messed up. field formerly let me choose "automatic login" small slit, , buttons below auto login or cancel not there. hit different combinations of keys, esc, tab, enter, ctl-alt-<all function keys>, , knows random assortment of key presses, no luck. also, cap lock , num lock don't seem function. no mouse, that's how operated previously.

hitting esc , other ctl-alt-function keys before auto login screen changes display, doesn't me can halt process , run console. esc let's me see kind of boot progress, don't see useful there.

ideas? i'm running linux mint isadora (ubuntu 10.04).

reboot in recovery mode, select "repair packages"
