.AVI unsupported format

the dv .avi files copy sony hvr-dr60 hard drive computer not import pp cs6. cs6 claims files unsupported format or damaged files. happens whether use media browser or ctrl i. cannot preview files in source window or see thumbnail in media browser.

 

these files open fine pp cs4 using media browser or ctrl i.  have dragged , dropped files sony hard drive project folder no issues. in searching solution, tried importing files form sony hard drive computer using sony recording unit utility, no difference: pp cs6 still not use .avi files. files less 4gb.

 

if knew how find out, share codec. can find is avi type 1 when records sony hard drive.  sony manual not helpful in way.

 

my video camera tape based: sony hvr-v1u. bright light of whole situation: @ least have on tape. otherwise major problem work flow.

 

i use pp cs6, creative cloud. upgrade cs4. brand new week.

 

i use pc running windows 7 professional.

 

i've seen similar problems mentioned, involved media recorded cf cards or other tapeless systems.

 

also worth mentioning: not have control of installations, etc., may why seem bit clueless. control of such things, though want learn.

 

please help.

this long shot, try instead of copying individual files copy entire root directory of media , navigate using media browser inside pp6. somethime media structure important fr pp understand kind of file dealing with.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
