Dual video cards causing Photoshop CS6 to crash
i set new rig (specs below) , going great. added second monitor , suddendly ps cs6 starts crashing randomly. think discovered ps not support dual monitor config if each monitor on different video card. if can guide me way make work, i'd appreciate it. if not, consider documented issue.
my main monitor (30" dell) powered ati raedeon hd 4850. secondary monitor (hp elite l2201x) powered onboard intel hd graphics 4000 because display uses display port. both supported cards , ps runs fine either 1 used independently or without gpu support.
when have both connected graphics processor settings box greyed out , when mouseover section description box below says "graphics hardware acceleration unavailable. need upgrade video driver , possibly video card" , programs crashes randomly. same behavior occurs regardless of on monitor ps being displayed.
i have attempted tweak bios settings establish harware priority ps see 1 card no avail. issue prevents me using second monitor entirely (i use ps daily), i'd resolved. appreciated.
motherboard: gigabyte ga-z77x-ud3h
processor: intel core i7-3770k cpu
ram: 32gb
boot drive: ocz 128gb ssd
os: win7 64
video card details: current drivers on both
primary: ati radeon hd 4850
secondary: intel hd graphics 4000 (hd4000)
photoshop, internet explorer, , number of other gpu-aware applications not working on systems multiple video interfaces made different vendors. display drivers don't work together, , there's no light @ end of tunnel - gpu makers have no incentive make stuff work stuff of other vendors.
do favor , modern single video card support monitors - e.g., ati radeon 7750 or 7850.
