Duplicate content - maybe generel big overlooked problem? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
i have noticed joomla sites have duplicate content (dc) problem.
it nothing written anywhere , sh404sef not regognize joomla problem sh404sef should fix other dc problems in joomla.
problem :
take 1 of non-sef urls.
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3
then remove index.php part of url.
?option=com_content&view=article&id=3
then notice showing same page 2 different urls. dc , problem google ranking.
problem excist sh404sef , probertly other sef plugins, because url missing index.php , therefor not caught , rewritten sef url.
i have testet 1 of joomla refference sites :
http://api.orange.com/
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3
?option=com_content&view=article&id=3
i noticed because got dc warnings in google webmaster tool.
am paronoid or potentially , overlooked big dc problem in joomla?

this isn't duplicate content, it's mod rewrite. can choose whether include index.php in urls in global configuration. google should not crawling , without index.php- either choose include in urls or not to. if google crawling , finding these duplicates that's peculiar site , not general joomla issue.
it might result of hand coding links , switching on mod rewrite later, that's guess. i'd check mod rewrite settings in global config , go through menu links , @ type are. if 'external url' pointing site should change these. say, it's unusual, not typical of joomla this.
