(Mac) Postscript printing issue - Photoshop CS5.1

we're having issue printing files of our office printers via photoshop.  of our office computers macs running os x 10.6.8 or 10.7.4, , running cs5.5 design std.

 

what we're noticing that, on particular .tiff, .jpeg, , .psd files, when issue print command within photoshop, job sends printer successfully, each printer reports postscript error.  reads "ps limitcheck error, offending command: 'yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy'", more or less. 

 

our initial thought there wrong particular file: damaged font, many path entries, etc.  but, our immediate workaround try printing same file in illustrator, able right off bat.  able print file via preview , exporting pdf , printing via acrobat.

 

we've reproduced problem on of our printers, , on few of printers after installing different (older) driver versions on test workstation.  leads believe issue lies somewhere in photoshop 5.1's coding.

 

i read in previous post (from 2009) including labels in print (chosen print dialogue) can cause type of error, not using print labels here, can't issue in our case.

 

any thoughts on this?  or stuck mentioned workaround and/or giving adobe more money cs 6?  (and how many updates did cs5??)

anything, adobe?  i'd love sort of response, though silence seems appropriate given error message 1 of our users received (completely unrelated issue posted above).
