Thread: Gobi 3000 on Verizon

hi,

i'm starting new thread keep gather info people might have
on running gobi 3000 modem verizon. think nobody has
managed that, maybe can cobble together.

these drives might need have usb id's changed. in case,


lsusb command gives

bus 002 device 004: id 1199:9013 sierra wireless, inc.

, had changed entries in gobiserial.c and
gobiusbnet.c

code:

(just search usb_device).

there 2 drivers, because there 2 ways of speaking the
modem. in principle, need 1 of them, @ moment none
work me ... gobiserial exposes modem interface on
/dev/ttyusb0 , gps interface on /dev/ttyusb1. gobinet exposes a
network interface usb0.

first however, need load in firmware in windows. activate
card , load firmware. gobi_loader software doesn't
work, missing apps.mbn, things have changed gobi
2000. make sure card works under windows.

if firmware loaded, network manager recognize both
interfaces. see ubs0 ordinary network interface without
connection , /dev/usb0 indeed broadband modem, refuses connect.

check if modem interface works, download putty, open serial
connection /dev/ttyusb0 , say

i've tried set ut wvdial , would't connect, see e.g output:

basically hates atdt command. bad doesn't want the
at+cgdcont command. at+cgdcont=? doesn't work.

i've tried sniffing windows do, talk network
interface , wireshark wouldn't sniff heck they
doing.

ideas anyone?

i came cunning plan run device inside vmplayer (which allows usb devices handed guest os) , bridge out linux, main driver wouldn't start error code 10.
