Thread: where to put software libraries that I manually compiled


hi everyone,

wondering if there sort of standard should put software libraries manually compile. example, want usethis minimum perfect hash library. default, "make install" put library files in /usr/local/lib. however, whenever clean install of os, have recompile , reinstall. there standard way of getting around this?

example, can use ~/.local folder purpose?

know of resource can use learn more ubuntu's various configuration files, folder structure, etc?

/usr/local standard place put programs aren't part of system. don't think there standard of put in home directory, people know create ~/bin. long add path variable, not matter put it.
