How to change Domain name only? Not moving hosting or files. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

cant find clear answer on this. have new domain name replace old. need directions on change in joomla 2.5.x

i want change old domain name, example "www.site.com" "www.newsite.com"

i not changing hosting company, not moving directories, or files, want change domain name.

1. change in configuration.php file?
2. have change in database remove old domain name?
3. else?

to best of knowledge, nothing needs change in joomla! have point new domain root directory of joomla! site. done using cpanel of host services. may depend upon whether domain in same host account or not. suggest, checking documentation of host service provided.

no, unless have hard-coded domain name.

are using commercial extensions or templates work on particular domain due licensing? if so, may have contact developers , make appropriate changes.

also, jf using file .htaccess , have included custom rules has old domain name, may have change point new domain.

note: make back-up of site files (including sub-directories) , database content exporting content using tools such phpmyadmin before attempting anything.
