Lost thumbnails

hello

 

i seem have lost thumbnail images.  fortunately originals on external hardrive.

 

lightroom suggesting in particular folder (on internal hd)  when not (all on external hd)

 

this looks when find folder (in correct place).  i'm unable select anything.  lr seems recoginise these duplicates.

 

 

hope can make straightforward suggestion.  either way know it's going tedious job reinstate everything. 

 

and before ask haven't backed catalogue in while *hangs head in shame*

ps.  in meantime i'll creating new catalogue.

try syncing photos, folder correct. resync catalogue , update lightroom.

 

synchronize folders

 

when synchronize folders, have option of adding files have been added folder not imported catalog, removing files have been deleted, , scanning metadata updates. photo files in folder , subfolders can synchronized. can determine folders, subfolders, , files imported.

1. in folders panel, select folder want synchronize.
2. choose library > synchronize folder.
3. in synchronize folder dialog box, of following:
   • to import photos appear in folders have not been imported in catalog, select import new photos. if select show import dialog before importing, can specify folders , photos imported.
   • to remove photos have been deleted folder not catalog, select remove missing photos catalog. if option dimmed, no files missing. (you can choose show missing photos display photos in grid view.)
   • to scan metadata changes made files in application, choose scan metadata updates.
4. click synchronize.
5. if import photos dialog box opens, specify folders , files want import, , click import.

long have images in "correct" folder, once sync reflect have in folder/harddrive.
