Please help with ToC Issues

i posted following entry reply ongoing thread, decided more people may see , able if start new thread:

hi,

newbie here having vast problems toc , panicking bit, since have deliver document , can't toc match 1 in template. have fm 10, windows 7.

when saw ideo of importing formats thrilled, tried , no go.

there 2 problems:

1. have unwanted chapter number in front of page number. page numbers progress in order 1 100, throughout book , toc. however, chapter number—i.e., number dash followed page number—is displayed in front of each page in toc, , not in book! think i've tried every possible combination in 'numbering' section nothing gets rid of these chapter numbers; i'm beginning think template creator removed them manually after final generation of toc!

 

2. in original document template imported, there preface used small roman numerals starting @ page v, , chapter 1 starts @ page 1. when generate
toc message saying document numbering properties differ numbering properties of book book numbering properties applied. how can use both formats , prevent htis message?

 

ps how format numbering properties book instead of each document? i've tried selecting book title, selecting docs @ once, when these things 'numbering' feature in menu dimmed.

 

thanks ever in advance can me out of muddle!

 

pss if problem lies how template imported document don't know whether can since no 1 involved in available me. don't think case, rest of template has been working beautifully.
