Premiere CS6 Hates My ProRes Files
i'm editing project footage shot on couple canon t2i's. 1080p , 720p, 23.976fps , 59.94fps. converted h.264s prores422 using episode pro (v6.3) , there added reel names clips using qtchange.
i wanted edit prores because know down line i'll adding lot of effects , color correction. i'm working on 2010 imac (i7, 2.3ghz, 8gb ram, no nvidia card, os 10.6.8) , i'll run processor bottleneck raw h.264s. in effort save time , sanity down line, chose go prores workflow. edit in fcp i'm trying hard not go , wanted dynamic linking well, again because effects heavy.
after watching few clips, realized getting bad drop frames on 1 or 2 occassions. can't drag clips timeline directly project panel. can't drag source panel either.
a lot of times, i'll have clip selected in project panel , i'll hit f10 or f9, keys i've mapped insert , overwrite to. nothing. doesn't work. every once in while whole app freeze up. keyboard shortcuts rendered useless. no playback.
but, if use h.264, it's fine on counts. drag , drop, no drop frames, keyboard shortcuts. i'm wondering if should ditch prores (once , all) , stay native files. imac handle it? hate myself later when finishing?
thanks in advance, guys (i know beating dead horse now).
hmm use prores daily , have no problems.
although try edit native files first , if seems having issues use else. try avoid changing things unless isn't working. answer use native files.
