Thread: All Firefox windows & dialog boxes open vertically maximized

i'm preparing clean install of natty , want clean old customizations possible re-use of of them once natty up, , none of current setup messes things in new. (still using karmic right now.)

1 major problem within firefox (and even, maybe, extent outside of ff), of windows , dialog boxes, when open them, in vertically maximized state. (i can adjust, of course, close , re-open means they're vert-maxed again.)

i'd change that, aren't vertically maximized when open them.

use (and have used) metacity windows manager.

, system --> prefs --> appearance --> visual effects has been set "none."

think long ago deliberately set vertical-maximization, don't remember or how.

(outside of ff) there 2 places have opposite problem -- want windows open vertically maximized, , don't: (1) system --> prefs --> keyboard shortcuts; , (2) terminal --> edit --> keyboard shortcuts.

(1) above, i've tried working devilspie using other name keyboard shortcuts, "gnome-keybinding-properties" (which command under "launcher properties" -- have in gnome top panel) devilspie isn't working.

tips appreciated.

i'd know name use in devilspie terminal's keyboard shortcuts.

(p. s. please, before advising use devilspie or wmctrl windows issues, have both these, need first unset bad default. thanks.)

i suggest if plan on doing clean install of natty, remove configuration files , directories /home/$user, there enough changes in natty, using configuration files previous version cause problems.
