Thread: Asus G50vt-x1 GPU issues.

hey guys. i'm having issue gpu in asus g50vt laptop. i'm pretty sure it's on it's way out, wanted check guys sure.

started having issues random artifacts showing up. bad enough need force shut down. had noticed temps little on high side (50c cpu , 60ish gpu @ idle). once opened laptop noticed pretty clogged up. cleaned out, , used as5 thermal paste on cpu. got put together, , temps better (40c cpu , 47c gpu type this). artifacts still issue.

heck of went screensavers , selected 1 of gl screensavers. select one, artifacts hit hard. after 5-7 seconds screen comes , i'm able close out of screensavers window. tried run nexuiz. game loads artifacts , has hard lock , have force shutdown.

did run memtest 10 hours straight, , didn't have errors. being issue have when i'm doing graphics related, feel pretty confident it's gpu. i've read other people saying they've had gpu's hit 80-90c particular laptop. i've never seen above 74c. anyway, if guys have other suggestions i'm ears! can pick gpu on ebay $170...which don't have spend...

p.s. i'm running driver version 173.14.28 on ubuntu 10.10. i've tried running 11.04, same issues.

i've been playing around laptop bit more. removed nvidia driver together, , since doing i'm not getting artifacts, , i'm able use gl screensavers without issue. driver issue?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
