Thread: Changing disks in my RAID array
hi,
have small home server running 8.04 hardy heron. i'm not ubuntu expert of these forums managed , running 2 or 3 years ago. , i've not needed since.
anyway, have raid1 (mirrored) array built 2 x 200gb drives. it's starting fill i've bought pair of 1tb drives. i'm trying figure out how go transferring data across new drives - simple taking 1 of 200gb drives out of array, adding in 1 of 1tb drives, letting mirror rebuild doing same other drive?
cheers,
martin
in theory that, followed of course, expanding array make use of larger drive, instead suggest building new system around new disks, installing 10.04 in process, , manually copying data on old disk. or can copy system new disks, remove old disks, upgrade 10.04. way start fresh clean filesystem latest features , no fragmentation.
