Thread: Error: /dev/md1: unrecognised disk label.. First time software raid setup.

hi,

i'm trying setup server using hp proliant microserver 4 wd20ears. setting in raid 5. had used ubuntu 2-3 years first time tackling this.. find answers need within forum or elsewhere has stumped me. try , explain have done best can.

partitions consist of

1mb biosgrub

1gb / <raid1

8gb raid <raid5 (lvm used /usr /var /tmp /home formatted ext4)

xxtb (remaining space) <raid5 formatted ext4

install completes fine once booted , run sudo parted -l receive message near end

error: /dev/md1: unrecognised disk label

md1 last partition in list above plan store everything. formatted ext4 , mounts /zdrive.

mounts fine , can use error above worries me i'm missing during setup process. other posts error messages result in grub or boot issues mine seems start , run fine. info have found on net label should possibly gpt!? how label it?

appreciate help! please let me know if need more info.

the error because /dev/md1 not disk , not have partition table. shouldn't running parted on it.

way, don't need have separate raid1 /; can in lvm on raid5 too.
