here's problem i've got now, don't know if it's related mbr screw or not. have installed way want it... except, backup folder found on winxp hdd. have 2 partitions, c , d on windows drive , had stored backup folder on partition d. stands reason should still there, , windows counting drive space being held folder.

oh, , btw... can't see folder when logged ubuntu it's not issue windows can't see ubuntu can.

body got suggestion on program me recover lost folder?

thanks.

install testdisk software centre. installing testdisk install photorec.
next part depend on if have more spare space on ubuntu drive there on drive d:.
if not need plug in large usb drive , work that.
if in ubuntu create folder called, say, my_lost_files.
make sure xp disk visible , mounted in ubuntu.
open terminal ctrl+alt+t , make fullscreen.
type
code:
cd my_lost_files
then type
code:
sudo photorec
select correct partition on xp drive.
select want files go (either my_lost_files or onto usb drive)
press "y" , go make coffee.

read first might have missed something
