Thread: Recommend an ATi/AMD card?

i'm thinking of going amd in next build can give 9600 gt little brother, , because i've wanted recent amd/ati card can mess open drivers , see what's possible real card open source drivers. play handful of games (fallout 3, oblivion, world of warcraft , morrowind) in wine, deal of graphics card intensive stuff. i'd targeted towards mid-high end full opengl 4 support , enough power make laptop owning friends cry. this: 5/67xx series enough or should go 5/68xx+ range? oh, 1 more thing, i'd support more 2 monitors whether it's through linking on board ati graphics or sheer capability of card itself.

oh, , know looks i'm spamming cafe, intended firefox thread die days ago , nuclear thread went viral.

oh cool, gonna start thread myself.

pc shopping today. salesman @ store happened linux (debian) user , let me use natty liveusb on whichever pc wanted. sadness, of pcs amd card didn't want boot. desktop began load, flickering , hard lockup mouse cursor on black screen text.

on topic though, wouldn't recommend amd card if use linux graphics-intensive stuff. open source drivers fine, lack gaming. proprietary drivers apparently quite flaky.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
