Thread: ubuntu not booting

i installed ubuntu 11.04 month ago. working fine till yesterday. today when booted ubuntu in normal mode, displayed lot of starting.. stopping... statements , got struck @ "starting userspace bootsplash".
when tried open in recovery mode-->failsafex mode, it's booting properly(without prompting password!!) , working fine..
it's not booting in normal mode..!! , gets struck @ different "starting......." statement time..
please regarding logging in normal mode..

pc details : dell xps, intel i5 processor, 1gb graphics card..

at first glance i'll try without splash (edit boot line remove it)

logs might find whats wrong:
- .xsession-errors (/home, ctrl+h unhide it)
- /var/log/ (system admin logviewer)
