CCITT u-Law encoder settings
hi - please forgive ignorance have lot learn audio recording have searched these forums , web extensively trial , error , i'm stumped.
i've got copy of adobe audition , have been asked create audio prompts unity connection (cisco) phone system.
the parameters i've been given follows:
bit rate: 64kbps
audio sample size: 8 bit
channels: 1 (mono)
audio sample rate: 8khz
audio format: ccitt u-law
i think have found adjust of parameters above except audio format.
i found information proclaiming these audio prompts can created audition (even recomended) no actual step step instructions.
i found free conversion tools. tried recording audition , converting. quality severely worse off after conversion. guess expected 8 bit have best quality possible.
i got decent sounding 8-bit recording in audition in properties of resulting .wav file file details states encoder settings: pcm
:
whereas 1 convert free converter shows encoder settings: ccitt u-law
so question is... how can ecoder settings read ccitt u-law when saving/exporting directly audition?
and tips maximizing quality of recording appreciated. can see settings chose above.
many guidance can provide.
best,
aimee
hi aimee,
you'll need have audition cs6 cs5.5 did not support native export u-law.
- when you're ready export, choose file > save as...
- choose "libsndfile (*.aifc, *.aiff....)" the format, click "change..." button next format settings
- in new dialog, set format "waveform audio" , encoding "u-law"
- then click ok few times apply these settings
