Clearing the Media Cache Database

hi,  in tutorial on using encore cs6 says "clear media cache database"

 

why done?  ...and if done... remove important files, clips, assets..etc in other projects?  safe this?

ppro , encore create many temporary files, may deleted when done project... original video clips , project files in location of choosing, not in cache folders

i create project files on 2nd hard drive (see below) temporary files put on drive

 

my 3 hard drives video editing configured as...
.
1 - 320gig boot win7 64bit pro , program installs (2)
.
2 - 320gig data win7 paging swap file , video project files
when create project on #2 drive, various work files follow,
so boot drive not used media cache folders , files
.
3 - 1terabyte data video files... input & output files (1)
.
(1) faster input/output if have 4 drives
- use drive 3 source files
- use drive 4 output files
.
(2) 60gig used, win7 & cs5 mc & ms office & other smaller programs

i not use raid... avchd cpu intensive, not drive intensive uncompressed,

i have no problems editing without raid (but, "simple" home videos)

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
