cross references from a word file

i've read on forum indesign (cs6) has problems cross references in word files. (i mean dynamic references "see page/paragraph/chapter x".) whenever see them, delete them in word , update them manually in final draft. (by way, standard, save word files word 97-2003.)

the problem (luckily, should say), word feature hardly used, book i'm working on, forgot check.

i noticed when had worked full day on in indesign. next day could't open indesign file anymore. well, **** happens, started anew. next day, same problem, contacted adobe helpdesk; couldn't reopen file either.

third try. made copies before closing document, first testing if reopen them. had guessed these cross references problem. appeared tiny blue double dot in text (a bit upper half of marking index codes). couldn't find way search them, searched word file field codes , removed them manually in indesign file. of them, thought.

i closed , reopened few times, no problem. no need check anymore , first make copy, thought. sent pdf of first draft author, processed corrections, closed document.

 

the next day couldn't reopen it.

 

now i'm not kind of guy gives in easily, before start doing book fourth time, sure last time. so:

 

-     there way reopen indesign file?

-     there way search these corrupted (?) reference codes in indesign file? (i still have 80% ready copy of indesign file can use.)

-     removing of these codes final solution,or should remove codes in word file , start anew? of course wouldn't make me happy.
