Lightroom 4 - Locks up when rating photos

i upgraded lightroom 3 4. every time attempt select photos using star ratings app locks , never returns (i eternal, apple, rainbow spinning wheel.). have new macbook pro purchased in jan 2012. other applications continue operate fine, indicates adobe lightroom issue me.

 

i have re-installed application orinial download. seemed work 3 seconds , locked before. let run 45 minutes (while waiting adobe help, never came) , gave up.

 

the way lightroom force quit , start over. news force quit not seem cause loss of work. bad news selecting highest rated photos basic functionality depend on.

 

has else experienced this? thoughts on fixing it?

hi larry.  may taking time churn through , check previews cache, metadata status, etc. after upgrade.  lot of reported disappeared when lr left own devices time.

 

if that's not it, there few other things can try:

 

1.  trashing preferences - including lr3 , other old ones trick.

2.  corrupted presets have been causing issues in cases, rule out.

3.  if it's not big catalog , of photos available, deleting , rebuilding preview cache solves multitude of weirdness.

 

and if none of trick, can explore few other options.  hand of steps?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
