error benchmarking: helper exited exit code 1: error reading 27099136 bytes @ 2509258752 /dev/sda: input/output error
this issue preventing me making copy/backup of partition gparted
decided should since had scare when booting today

unable mount / said fix it
said /var not ready
waited became ready

running 10.04.2 upgrading kernel trim support fix it?

code:
sudo fsck -t ext4 /dev/sda1 fsck util-linux-ng 2.17.2 e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-dec-2010) system: clean, 247383/983040 files, 1394162/3907803 blocks
solution: drive under warranty , needs used not software problem
attached images attached images
attached files attached files

you can make back-up of partition copying folders like
/bin
/home
/lib
etc. different place.

trim helps improve throughput when disk 75%+ full. more recent kernels have trim support.
