Thread: Synergy not working at all.

before wastes time reading entire thread, suggest if have problem, skip second page , post titled resolved. may save ton of wasted time.

okay, had posted couple of days ago, no responses , i've totally changed configuration too, came in edit entire post.

problem: can't synergy working @ all.

set up:

3 computers on belkin lan, on ethernet.

2 clients running windows xp sp3, , synergy 1.3.1.

syngery server triple boot mac pro running os x snow leopdard, windows xp (new install, not yet updated, , ubuntu 11.04. each os on separate drive.

synergy version on both os x , windows on server 1.3.1.

have no idea synergy version on ubuntu. don't know how check it. know newer synergy versions don't play nice older versions.

didn't further instructions quicksynergy, because found remainder of page unclear , confusing.

quick synergy did not work @ all.

, instructions, though seemed easier follow, didn't work either. realize matt's instructions outdated.

when first followed instructions, able past screen file "synergy.conf” created, , end in screen looks this:



(except original screen showed file name being edited @ bottom. screen shot doesn't show that, because can't original screen anymore, reasons explained below)

matt's instructions show text go synergy.conf, when start typing "section" instead:



can see, nothing appears in screen when typing "section:" until type "n" , shows in second line.

tried again, time appears first attempt created file, because screen right after entering:

don't know how of has inexperience linux, , how might have outdated instructions. synergy documentation (for versions out there) sadly lacking , of @ least couple of years old.

can anyone shed light on me? without synergy running, ubuntu missing last critical feature need on of use me.
