Thread: Updates broke my server

my server set automatically install updates, , stopped working while away. when got it, has boot menu choose between kernel versions, no default or timer. pick one, , there heaps of other problems.
/home partition isn't mounting, despite fstab being unchanged. can mount manually using mount no problems
/var/syslog has nothing since april, , isn't updating when reboot, i'm not sure can cut , paste here at.
networking isn't running, in fact, of network interfaces aren't showing up.

that's i've identified far. have no idea start. can't find wrong other fact it's not working.

can't copy , paste output @ point, because can't ssh, i'll type out people thinks diagnose it.

please help!

turn off automatic updates.

uptime on server?

open up, clean out, , reseat everything.

don't understand how log files stopped in april. did disk error force system go read only?

hardware?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
