Keeping Raw File Settings

to whom may concern.

 

i have started using premiere pro , have found myself in spot of bother. have recorded video in mp4 format in 600mb file size area. after have finished editing video cannot seem find correct export setting keeps raw files same picture quality , relative file size. shouldnt there function when import video can keep raw files exact settings? in matter appreciated. thanks

it comes down workflow.

 

now, mp4 format getting camera not raw.  highly compressed datastream contains lot of information.  raw video footage tends extremely large , need fast system process them. these compressed files allow wider variety of programs access footage.

 

now, important thing realize editing video , playing video different processes, , video files played not edited.  premiere tries take of workload off of shoulders, still have mindful of fact these files getting camera not easy computer edit.

 

that being said, destination of footage important.  movies going sent out video packages laymen view on computer?  need translatable file compressed enough file sizes allow easy distribution , playback.  recommend h.264 1 of our presets - cover needs.

 

are these movies going held onto awhile on computer used in program or brought premiere further use?  if case, can try match settings of original footage as possible - using h.264.  it's not going match exactly, files not being used same thing - storage on camera vs editing in nle.

 

there intermediate codecs available not part of premiere should work.  i've heard lot of chatter on here dnxhd , ut.  both of free.
