MP3 data rate problem - and solution
one of things on "to do" list vacation rip every 1 of our cds , put them onto mp3 cds cars. hate having cd towers next entertainment center. seems so, well, old fashioned. know?
so, wisely ripped them relatively high quality 320kb/s. wisely? uh oh. apparently not.
it seems mp3 player in car can't handle high bit rate (they skip) , going have rip them again. what? no! not @ all. have been saved. downloaded free file converter called switch nch software.
what life saver. allowed me convert thousands of songs @ 1 time. not that, allowed me keep same directory structure. had files organized cd wanted write them in folder called music cars , allowed me convert them folder named music cars 128.
i told input , output upper level folder, data rate wanted use. , sitting while relatively fast pc takes 5 seconds convert each file. cool. still have 320kb/s play on pc, have 128kb/s play in car - where, let's face - quality isn't quite important when live in california since of time windows open , competing wind noise anyway. right? if 59 year old ears hear difference between 320 , 128. listened , swear can't tell. perhaps @ higher volume. suppose need rip white rabbit (the greatest rock , roll song of time) , play @ high volume, might hear difference.
the software doesn't seem have downloaded additional, annoying programs, toolbars, or crud that.
isn't amazing programs out there free? , work great. have hated have rip of cds again. , converting 1 folder @ time have been time consuming. way easy.
steven,
that both great news, , great info.
i have ripped of cd's via itunes, play on ipods. never have considered data-rate, will. also, should make mistake, have batch converter fall on.
maybe missed it, data-rate did convert to?
also, software did use rip cd's? itunes route very, slow, , that's 1 reason have limited ripping few cd's.
thanks,
hunt
